LAWRENCEVILLE — Wayne Leon Waggoner, age 89, of Lawrenceville, died on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1931 in Olney, the son of Omer Dale and Anna (Hills) Waggoner. He married Lorraine C. (Rule) Caryl, and she preceded him in death.
Wayne was a 1949 graduate of Bridgeport Township High School, as well as a 1953 graduate of McKendree University and a 1960 graduate of Cumberland Presbyterian Seminary. He worked for the United States Postal Service, until his retirement in 1996. He was also an ordained minister, and pastored at various churches. His memberships included the American Legion in Decatur, the General Baptist Church in Decatur, and he was an associate member of the Otterbein Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Army.
Preceding him in death were: his parents; wife, Lorraine; and one brother, William Waggoner.
Survivors include: his two children, John Waggoner and Shelly Snead; one step-son, DW Caryl; two brothers, Eugene Waggoner and wife, Charlene of Plainfield, Indiana; and Marion Waggoner and wife, Jane Ann of Landenberg, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Loretta Huffman of London, Kentucky; and Rosella Tracy of Sumner; one sister-in-law, Fern Waggoner of Lawrenceville; and one grandchild.
Private services will be conducted.
Burial will be in the Waggoner Cemetery.
The Sivert-Macey-Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner is in charge of the arrangements.
