LHS sophomore Goodwin no-hits Hutsonville
LAWRENCEVILLE - There's nothing like a no-hitter to lift a team out of a funk.

Sophomore Clay Goodwin delivered just that Tuesday, as the Lawrenceville High School's baseball team snapped a two-game losing streak by downing visiting Hutsonville, 2-1, at Unit 20 Ballpark.

Indians stretch winning streak to four
LAWRENCEVILLE - Lawrenceville High School's baseball team took advantage of every Mount Carmel miscue Wednesday, to hand the visiting Golden Aces a 9-3 setback at Unit 20 Ballpark.

The Indians, who improved to 5-4 with their fourth consecutive victory, batted around while taking control with four runs in the second inning and got a complete game from pitcher Thomas Mahrenholz.

LAWRENCEVILLE - After a couple of disappointing losses, Lawrenceville High School's softball team might have found its way back on to the right track on Tuesday.
Olney hands LHS softball team first loss of year
LAWRENCEVILLE - Junior Shyloh Hearn gave Lawrenceville High School's softball team a perfect start to Saturday's Lawrenceville High School Invitational, but Olney ruined the Indians unbeaten season in the championship game.

Hearn tossed a perfect game as the Indians opened the tournament by blasting Martinsville, 18-0, in the tournament semifinals. In the nightcap, however, Olney scored eight unearned runs in the fifth inning, on the way to a 12-4 win.

Seventh-inning rally lifts Tribe to win
ALBION - Lawrenceville High School's baseball team scored three times in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday and held on for its first win of the season, a 6-4 triumph over host Edwards County.
Bridwell's homer the highlight as Salukis win first game
BRIDGEPORT - Red Hill High School softball coach Amy Moan knew good things would happen if freshman catcher Savannah Bridwell ever made solid contact with the ball.
Salukis hang on for 5-4 win at Oblong
OBLONG - Red Hill High School's baseball team played just enough defense and got just enough run production Tuesday to even its record at 2-2.

The Salukis scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 5-2 lead, then held on for a 5-4 win over host Oblong.

LHS softball team handles Salukis, 13-1
BRIDGEPORT - Lawrenceville High School's softball team got its bats going in the later innings Thursday, and rolled to a 13-1 win over rival Red Hill at Leigh Ann Westall Memorial Field. The game was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

The Indians (2-0) and Salukis (0-1) were tied through two frames, before LHS took the lead for good with two runs in the top of the third. It was only the beginning, as the Indians added four runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth.

LHS baseball team drops two
Lawrenceville High School's baseball team dropped a pair of road games to open the season over the weekend, but Indians' coach Bob Gher is undaunted.

Flora nipped the Tribe, 5-4, to open the season on Friday. On Saturday, fell 13-3 to Newton in a game that was stopped via the 10-run rule after six innings.

LHS banged out nine hits in both losses, but got nothing to show for it.

"We're 0-2. It's early," Gher said. "But I still have high hopes for the season. That's not changed."
