Oblong spoils debut for new RH coach
BRIDGEPORT - Visiting Oblong ruined the debut for new Red Hill High School volleyball coach Jessica Tarnowski Monday evening.

Although the Salukis got off to a decent start, the visiting Panthers walked away with a 25-22, 25-15 in the auxiliary gym at RHHS.

"I think the nerves of the girls probably got the best of them," said Tarnowski, who replaced Sarah Will at the RHHS helm. "We've still got great players. I know we can pick ourselves up."

McKenzie Wolfe had five kills to lead the RHHS attack, while Baelee Holloway added three kills and a pair of aces. Andi Tennis added two kills while Kenedee Whittaker and Hannah McVey both served aces.

"Our girls didn't read their body language well, especially their hitters," Tarnowski said. "They had some good hitters and they found our spots. They knew where to hit it."

Oblong won the junior varsity match, 25-9, 25-18.

Abby Organ had three kills and a pair of aces for the Salukis. Alexa Jones added three kills and Leah Ramsaran one.

The Salukis host Hutsonville on Wednesday and will play Thursday at South Knox, Ind.
