Junior high school softball
Miss Salukis take county battle
BRIDGEPORT - Host Red Hill Junior High School posted back-to-back four-run innings Wednesday, then held on for an 11-9 win over rival Parkview Junior High School's softball team.

Parkview (0-2) scored four times in the top of the second inning to take a 5-1 lead. The Braves added single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and seventh frames, but were unable to overtake the Miss Salukis (1-1).

Mary Marley went the distance on the mound for Red Hill, allowing only two earned runs in seven inning. Marley survived eight walks while recording two strikeoutss.

Makielah Chansler had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for RHJH. Madison Hobbs doubled home a run, while Grace Hahn had a single and an RBI. Marley and Megan Tennis added base hits.

Haleigh Hoke highlighted the PJHS attack with four hits and an RBI. Emily Moore singled twice and drove in a run, while Bree Seitzinger singled and twice crossed the plate. Haley Hulen added a base hit.

Hoke started on the mound and pitched the first three innings for Parkview. She allowed six runs, three of which were earned, fanned two batters and walked four. Cloey Warner pitched the final three innings for the Braves and took the loss. She gave up five runs, three of which were earned, with three walks and no strikeouts.

The Braves return to competition today, with a game at Edwards County. Red Hill will host Casey on Monday at Westall Field.
