RH softball team rolls
BRIDGEPORT - After being shut out for just the second time all season on Wednesday, Red Hill High School's softball team bounced back in a big way in the final game of the regular season.

The Salukis had their best offensive night of the season in a 14-7 Little Illini Conference win over Flora. The game was scheduled to be played at Flora, but was moved to Red Hill due to wet grounds.

The Salukis (10-13, 3-8 LIC) connected for 19 hits to support pitcher Marissa Roark, who tossed a complete game.

Red Hill scored three times in the second inning, but needed a six-run sixth-inning to break the game open. The Salukis scored three more runs in the top of the seventh to put the game away.

Maran Tennis tripled and singled three times to pace the Red Hill offense. Taylor Paulin added a double and two singles, while Ashlyn Carr doubled and singled. Roark, Andi Tennis, Dakotah Moan and Cheyanne Moan all singled twice, while Tori Paulin and Kendahl Stout both singled twice.

Roark surrendered 14 hits in getting her first pitching decision. She walked only one batter while striking out two.

The Salukis will now enter the chase for a fourth consecutive regional championship. Red Hill will take part in the Illinois High School Association Class A tournament at Noble. The second-seeded Salukis will take on the third-seeded host Noble team at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday.
