Indians hold off Flora, 6-5
FLORA - Lawrenceville High School's softball team did all of its damage in two innings Tuesday, in a 6-5 Little Illini Conference win over homestanding Flora.

The Indians (7-10, 3-7 LIC) scored twice in the opening frame and four times in the sixth, then held on for the victory.

Flora took control of the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, moving to a 4-2 lead. The Indians battled back with four in the sixth, then held on for the win.

Heidi Litherland and Brianna Shick both doubled and tripled for the Tribe, which outhit Flora, 12-9. Heather Miller and Sarah Kocher both singled twice, while Amerae Miller, McKenzi Kelly, Samantha Mason and Lindsey Baker all singled.

Breanna Shick pitched the first four innings for LHS and was credited with the win. She gave up a run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Shyloh Hearn gave up four runs, two of which were earned, over the final three innings in the circle for LHS. She allowed six hits, walked two and fanned a pair.

The Indians will travel to Farmersburg, Ind., for a game against North Central on Thursday. They'll close out the regular season Saturday by playing in the Olney Invitational.
