Aces wallop Indians, 13-2
MOUNT CARMEL - Host Mount Carmel scored nine times in the bottom of the second inning Friday and coasted past Lawrenceville High School's baseball team, 13-2.

The game was stopped after the Indians (1-14) batted in the top of the fifth inning, due to the 10-run rule.

Tanner Darnell started for the Indians and suffered the pitching loss. He pitched an inning and gave up two runs on three hits.

Cody Steffey allowed nine runs while pitching an inning for LHS, while Slayton Dorney pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and allowed two runs.

Dale Smith limited the Indians to a hit while pitching the first three innings for the Golden Aces. Smith fanned five LHS batters.

Kiefer Goldman gave up two runs while pitching the final two innings for Mount Carmel. He allowed three hits.

Ryan Seed doubled in the fifth inning for the Indians' only extra-base hit.

The Indians are scheduled to begin a busy week today by traveling to Oblong. However, that game has been postponed according to LHS athletic director Jamie Schultz.

LHS will travel to Flora on Tuesday, host South Knox, Ind., on Wednesday, and play a pair of games Thursday at Red Hill.

The Indians will begin Illinois High School Association Class 2A regional play a week from today. The Tribe is scheduled to play at Fairfield in a 4:30 p.m. game.
