Salukis win 2, fall in title game
NOBLE - Red Hill High School's softball team won twice to reach the championship game of the season-opening Ladycat Invitational hosted by Noble High School Saturday, before losing to Altamont in the championship contest.

The Salukis whipped Vandalia, 11-6, and Palestine, 4-2, before falling to the Indians in the title tilt, 3-1.

Due to the tournament's one-hour time limit, all games were completed in an hour. The Salukis played just three innings against Vandalia and four against Palestine. Five innings were played in the championship game before time ran out.

"I was very proud of how well we played for playing three games in a row in the cold weather," Red Hill coach Amy Moan said. "Overall I think we played well and got our first game jitters out of the way."

Brittany Fiscus was charged with three runs while pitching the final 2/3 of an inning. She allowed a hit while walking three batters and striking out two.
