Indians drop two of three duals at Robinson
SULLIVAN, Ind. - A trio of Lawrenceville High School wrestlers posted perfect 3-0 records Saturday at the Sullivan Duals, but the Indians came up short in two of three meets.
Northview, Ind. opened the day with a 36-24 win over the wrestling Indians, who then lost to host Sullivan, 43-33. LHS closed out the day with a 61-12 conquest of Evansville Harrison.
Senior 152-pounder Thomas Grove, junior 182-pounder Max Andersen and junior 220-pounder Trevor Richards all posted 3-0 records.
Grove pinned all three of his opponents, two of them in the opening period. Andersen scored pins in his first two matches then closed out the day with a 15-3 decision of Harrison's Kyle Watson. Richards won by decision, pinned Sullivan's Zach Christian in 2:54 and accepted a forfeit.
Five more LHS representatives, 138-pounder Tristan Davis, 160-pounder Gage McIntosh, 170-pounder Jacob Wirth, 195-pounder Shawn Rogers and heavyweight Brandon Vessels won two of three matches.
Seniors McIntosh, Rogers and Vessels all won twice by pin, while junior Davis pinned one opponent. Wirth, also a junior, won twice by decision.
Evan Briner (126), Zach Kocher (132) and Ryan Seed (145) all won once. Seed's win was by pin, in 2:47 over Harrison's Corey Staats.
The Indians are slated to travel to North Knox, Ind. for a Tuesday dual before competing Saturday at the Leroy Invitational.
