Indians shoot 164 at Marshall
MARSHALL - Lawrenceville High School's golf team cracked the 170 barrier for the first time this season in defeating host Marshall in a dual meet at Marshall Golf Club.

LHS is now 6-3 overall after posting a 164-181 victory over the Lions.

"We turned in a very good round of golf today, solid from top to bottom," said LHS coach Dave Berry. "We're managing our game better and getting consistency golf teams require to be competitive."

Senior Scott Beard and junior Hoa Bobe both shot 3-over-par scores of 39 to share team honors. Freshman Tanner Gray and sophomore Austin DeLoriea also scored, as both turned in 7-over-par rounds of 43.

The Indians did not use the scores of Jevyn Collins (46) or Jeffry Baxter (48). Lane Vories also shot a 48, but was not in the six-man lineup.

"We beat a good Marshall team, handing them only their second loss of the season," said Berry. "Hoa and Scott coming in at 39 is huge for us. Having seven golfers 48 or better shows we are getting where we need to be with the LHS program."

Marshall's Wade Kibler fired a 1-over-par 37 and was the meet medalist. However, the Lions also had to use the 48s of John Sisson, Kieffer Treece and Dylan Wilson. They tossed out a 49 from Dylan Miller and a 51 from Mason Rogers.

The Indians' 164 was seven shots better than their previous best score, a 171 at Flora on Monday.

"As well as we played today, there are things we must continue to improve upon to take our game to the next level," Berry said. "I'm very proud of this team. They are hard-working, dedicated, young men."

LHS will travel to Stoy on Tuesday, for a meet against Oblong.
