Search continues for man who robbed area bank
FARMERSBURG, Ind. - The man who robbed a southwestern Indiana community bank, and a possible accomplice, are still at large, prompting a region-wide manhunt.

About 10 a.m. Monday, a man described as a tall African-American male, between 6-foot and 6'5" robbed the First Financial Bank branch in Farmersburg.

Farmersburg is 53 miles northeast of Lawrenceville in Sullivan County, Ind.

Indiana State Police are reporting that a dark-colored, four-door passenger vehicle pulled up to the front doors; a male left the passenger side of the car, entered the bank and handed one of the tellers a note demanding money. Police said while a weapon was not seen, reference to a weapon was made.

The suspect then left the bank and, according to police, got into the passenger seat. The vehicle then went north on U.S. Route 41. Police believe someone else drove the vehicle.

While the man did leave with money from the bank, the amount of cash taken is not being released. No one was injured in the robbery.

In addition to being tall, the suspect is described as weighing 185 to 200 pounds, with possibly some type of skin condition, wearing a black Chicago White Sox flat bill style cap, aviator style sunglasses, white long sleeve under shirt with a blue outer T-shirt, white cotton style gloves on both hands and gray baggy sweat style pants.

Police said it is possible the two men were sitting near the bank waiting for customers to leave. Authorities are asking anyone in the Farmersburg area who noticed anyone in a dark-colored vehicle sitting anywhere near the intersection of Main Street and U.S. 41 to contact the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department or Indiana State Police.

Anyone from the area with information in this case is urged to contact Indiana State Police Detective Tom Hanks at the Putnamville Post, 765-653-4114 or the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office at 812-268-4044.

Assisting state police and the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department, are the Sullivan County Prosecutor's Office and the Farmersburg Town Marshal. The FBI also is involved.
