LCMH to begin search for new CFO
LAWRENCEVILLE - It was a busy meeting for the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital board of directors Thursday evening.

The board's July meeting was moved to late June to accommodate annual chores such as reorganization and the budget.

While the board tackled several annual chores two items - the announcement of a retirement and the adoption of a new mission statement - got the most attention.

Chief Financial Officer Jerry Klein talked about his upcoming retirement with the board. Klein will retire at the end of the year. He said after 45 years in the business he feels it is time to spend more time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Klein received high praise from board members and hospital officials, including Chief Executive Officer Doug Florkowski.

"You get to work with a lot of people in your career and there are certain people that you really appreciate, not only from a professional standpoint, but from a personal standpoint and Jerry is certainly one of those. He's a great CFO, but he's an exceptional person," Florkowski said. "I've come to learn to respect Jerry tremendously for his loyalty, his dedication, his knowledge. They don't come any better. LCMH is going to really miss him, I know I'm going to miss him. "He's definitely leaving this place better than he found it. It doesn't get any better than Jerry Klein."

Gerald Parton, the Quorum Health Resources representative to the board, said the process of looking for Klein's replacement is expected to take three to four months and will begin soon.
