GSH tightens visitation guidelines
VINCENNES - As a result of an increase of influenza infections in the area, Good Samaritan Hospital is tightening its visitation guidelines for the protection of its patients and employees.

Hospital officials said to help limit the spread of the flu, the visitation guidelines will be altered the following ways:

• The recommended number of visitors allowed in the hospital will be two per patient.

• Visitors 18 years of age and younger should not visit the hospital, this includes lobbies and the cafeteria.

• Those with respiratory infections are discouraged from visiting patients.

Do not visit patients if:

• You are feeling sick with flu-like symptoms including cough, sore throat, fever, nasal congestion, muscle aches, vomiting or diarrhea.

• You have recently been exposed to anyone with flu like symptoms or have been recently diagnosed with influenza.

• You have a respiratory infection.

Every visitor entering or exiting a patient's room must clean hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Masks, hand sanitizers and waste containers are available at entry and registration areas.

Public reading materials have been removed from public waiting areas in an effort to decrease the transmission of influenza.
