Lawrence County Arts Council to present 'Airplane'
LAWRENCEVILLE - The Lawrence County Arts Council will present the comedy "Airplane" this weekend in the Lawrenceville High School auditorium.

The 1980 film, starring Robert Hays, Leslie Nielsen, Peter Graves and Julie Hagerty, is considered by critics to be one of the top 10 comedies of all time.

Arts Council members are urging local residents to "come out to see famous and soon-to-be-famous Lawrence County residents slap Susan Gher; see Tanner Hoke try to keep the plane in the air with the help of Judge Robert Hopkins and David Atkins.  Coach Greg Wood and several LHS football players hang out and dance in a seedy bar, and Rachel Hanson, with the help of Otto the Pilot, assists with cockpit duties."

There are jive dudes, a Hare Krishna, and a "favorite" newcomers, Kathryn Thompson as "Hanging Lady."

Newcomers and LCAC alumni join in some shenanigans in this slapstick comedy.

"With the ad-libbing going on at rehearsals, no two shows will be alike," Arts Council members said.

The play, directed by Jan Loeb and assisted by Cyndi Hays-Morris, will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets, $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors, are available at the door.

Advance tickets can be purchased at The Hoagy House and Essentials Hallmark.
