GSH implements new visitor restrictions as part of COVID-19 response

By Capitol News Illinois

VINCENNES - In light of the rapidly-changing COVID-19 pandemic, and the critical importance of protecting patients and staff, Good Samaritan will be further restricting visitors.

Effective at noon on Friday, March 20, 2020, all Good Samaritan locations will no longer allow visitors.

Exceptions will be made for one visitor in the areas below:

• Outpatient Surgery

• Inpatient Surgery (before surgery, day of surgery only)

• Patients without mental capacity to answer questions or make decisions

• End-of-life discussions and visitations

• Pediatric patients - 1 parent or guardian

• Laboring Mother - 1 laboring partner for entire stay

• Behavioral Health at Discharge for Treatment Plan

All visitors must be at least 18 years old unless they are the parent of a patient, or are an emancipated minor.

All visitation exceptions will be verified and is at the discretion of clinical leadership.

These temporary restrictions will assist in limiting the spread of COVID-19, and help us further prepare for what is expected to be a significant increase in COVID-19 patients needing inpatient care.

All patients and visitors allowed by exception will be screened upon arrival.

Good Samaritan along with other regional hospitals, will follow state and national recommendations for lifting these restrictions.

Thank you for your cooperation as we protect patients and staff, and prepare our organization, during these unprecedented times.
