State has four odd tornado seasons in a row
CHAMPAIGN - The 2015 tornado season thus far in Illinois and the rest of tornado alley is incredibly quiet.

However, this quiet start is no reason to relax if the past few years are a guide, according to Illinois State Climatologist Jim Angel at the Illinois State Water Survey, University of Illinois.

No tornadoes have been reported this year, except in the far Southeastern U.S. and one in California. Historically, the heart of the Illinois tornado season is March to June with two-thirds of tornadoes occurring during those months. In the past few years, however, Illinois has had more tornadoes occur outside of this period than inside.

LHS baseball team drops two
Lawrenceville High School's baseball team dropped a pair of road games to open the season over the weekend, but Indians' coach Bob Gher is undaunted.

Flora nipped the Tribe, 5-4, to open the season on Friday. On Saturday, fell 13-3 to Newton in a game that was stopped via the 10-run rule after six innings.

LHS banged out nine hits in both losses, but got nothing to show for it.

"We're 0-2. It's early," Gher said. "But I still have high hopes for the season. That's not changed."
