Parkside honors Robin LeGrand
Fifth grade students at Parkside Elementary School play their guitars in front of parents before school ended for the year. Guitars and books were purchased with memorials in honor of Robin LeGrand. The instructor is Alison Mendenhall.

Three-vehicle accident fatal for Altamont man
FAYETTE COUNTY - Illinois State Police District 12 reports a fatal three-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 5:25 a.m. on Thursday in Fayette County.

Joshua M. Willis, 22, Mansfield, Ohio, was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram van and had along passenger Jack E. Rudolph Sr., 46, Mansfield, Ohio; Jeffrey D. Beck, 40, Altamont, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, and William K. Daume, 45, Canton, Texas, was driving a 2017 freightliner truck with semi-trailer and had along passenger Bobbi L. Gibbs, 53, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

Lawrenceville City pool opens season Monday
LAWRENCEVILLE - The Lawrenceville City pool will open Memorial Day, with new pool manager Maddy Carrie at the helm.

Pool hours are Monday through Saturday from noon-6 p.m. and Sunday from 1-6 p.m. Admittance to the pool is $1 for everyone. For more information, call the pool at 943-6066.

Lawrence County runners fail to qualify for final day
CHARLESTON - The third time proved not to be a charm for Red Hill High School senior Lance Holmes, who saw his high school hurdling career come to a close on Thursday at the Illinois High School Association track and field state finals.

Two Lawrenceville High School athletes, sophomore 1,600-meter runner Jack Holden and freshman pole vaulter Cole Sumner, also failed to advance from the preliminary competition to Saturday's finals.
