LCCC champions
Lawrence County Country Club hosted its annual club championship over the weekend with winners being crowned in four divisions. VU Alumni Community Series lineup announced
VINCENNES - The lineup for the 2016-2017 Vincennes University Alumni Community Series has been announced.  

Now in its 65th season, the Alumni Community Series will provide entertainment at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center on VU's campus.

Kicking off the season on Sept. 9 will be "You've Got a Friend," the music of Carole King and James Taylor featuring Kirsti Manna and Jonathan Birchfield.  The two will present a nostalgic concert performance while being accompanied by a 24-piece orchestra.

19th annual CROP Walk set for Sept. 25
BRIDGEPORT - The 19th annual Lawrence County CROP Walk, sponsored by Church World Service, is scheduled for Sept. 25 in Bridgeport.

The walk, a national effort to combat hunger, will begin at 2 p.m. at the Gray Community Building, according to officials.

In place of a one-evening rally, this year CROP recruiters can pick up their CROP packets at the following locatioins this week:

- Monday: Bridgeport Presbyterian Church, 7-8 p.m.

- Wednesday: Lawrenceville Christian Church, noon-1 p.m.

- Thursday: Sumner Sign of the Kingdom, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

- Friday: St. Francisville Free Methodist Church, 10-11 a.m. and Lawrenceville Christian Church, 5-6 p.m.

CROP is a national walk held each year in an effort to stomp out hunger locally as well as globally. Organizers noted that 25 percent of the money earned from the walk will be divided equally between the county's two Sign of the Kingdom sites.

Parkview teams score wins
WEST SALEM - Parkview Junior High School's softball and baseball teams were both easy winners over host West Salem on Monday.

Parkview won the softball game, 10-1, while taking the baseball game, 20-1.
