Unit 20 looking to fill vacancy on board
LAWRENCEVILLE - After 13 years on the Unit 20 school board, Mary K. Benefiel tendered her resignation via a letter read at Wednesday's monthly meeting in the Parkside Elementary School community room.

The resignation creates an opening on the seven-person board that must be filled quickly.

Superintendent Doug Daugherty praised Benefiel and explained the process of finding a replacement.

"She's been a great asset to the board and the community. She and her husband are moving to Champaign, so she'll be leaving the board," Daugherty said, noting that the position will be posted in the Daily Record, asking for applications from anybody from District 4 to apply.
